23rd July 2008 – History was made!

The Transition Towns Movement has been recognized by the Somerset County Council along with the reality of Peak Oil.  Moreover, SCC is committed to supporting Somerset towns in achieving their Transition goals and seeks to become the first Transition Authority in UK.

Eco friendly bags are now available at North Curry Post Office.  These are made from biodegradable jute by a company which offsets its emissions, making the bag the first of its kind to be ‘climate neutral’.  Re-usable carrier bags, price 10p, are also available.  Well done Noel and Ali Prosser for this initiative!

Please give them your support by using these bags and not asking for a disposable plastic bag when shopping there.
